On the 10th August 2017 the Society hosted a presentation and site visit to its new development at Othery, Somerset. The properties are being built for South Western Housing Society by Man Green Solutions and will be 6 passive, low energy, affordable homes. The build commenced in April 2017 and is due for completion mid December 2017.
The Society invited a large number of people and organisations who are involved in housing development and who are interested in passive house developments. Several presentations were given by the Chair of SWHS Bob Chapman and the CEO Donna Johnson, Duncan Harvey the Affordable Housing Policy & Development Manager for Sedgemoore District Council, and Ian Bartlett the Managing Director of Man Green Solutions.
Following the briefings there was the opportunity to look around the site and to discuss over lunch the construction and concept of this very exciting development which looks to address one of the key issues facing tenants today, that of affordable warmth.
