As well as delivering our own schemes in rural locations, we also work with house builders and developers to provide affordable housing through Section 106 planning gain (restrictions).
We have just taken handover of the final properties built by Strongvox Homes at their Wedmore Grange site in the Somerset village of Wedmore. Alongside the private sale homes Strongvox provided a mix of 14 affordable homes, including 8 affordable rent and 6 shared ownership.
After understandable delays due to the pandemic, we have now taken handover of all 14 homes. All of the affordable rented properties are now occupied and we do hope that residents are enjoying their new homes. Most of our shared owners have also been busy getting settled, with the last purchases expected to complete this summer.
As this was a S106 planning gain site, we weren’t involved with the early discussions of the site layout and planning stages, but Sedgemoor District Council and Strongox worked hard to provide the much needed homes for the village. We have worked with Sedgemoor to provide the homes to local people, working within the frame work of local lettings in the S106.
