Shepton Mallet

Shepton MalletA £1.5 million scheme to create 10 new affordable homes for residents in Shepton Mallet has just been completed.

The development of ten 2-bedroom homes in Whitstone Road was officially launched on the 9th February 09 at a special opening ceremony with representatives from SHWS and Mendip District Council.

The new homes have been built on land owned by the Society’s partner contractor, Halsall Construction, with a £690,000 grant from the Homes and Communities Agency.

The Chair of SWHS, Anne Robinson, said: "We are delighted to complete these quality homes which we know will help local families in housing need in the Mendip area."

"All of the homes have been built to level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes, and which will reduce heating and running costs for residents," she adds.
